Are training and coaching right for me?

Not sure whether training or coaching is right for you? Let’s see if we can help.

To work with Helen Campbell you need to be able to say ‘yes’ to the following questions.

Are you over 18?

Helen teaches adults. In the UK we become legally an adult at 18, so all clients will be required to confirm that they are over 18*.

Unfortunately that means that parents requesting services for their children are going to be disappointed. Helen does offer training for parents themselves, designed to help them understand their children, and pass on the skills they are learning to them.

Similarly, she teaches teachers to teach emotional intelligence skills in supervision, or in Technical Performance Training, but will not accept contacts to train children in schools except in specifically designed interventions.

*Anyone who chooses to access services from a country where the age of majority is more than 18 will be doing so at their own risk.  She will not accept learners who are identified as being under the age of personal responsibility.

Are you able to cope?

Training and coaching are not therapy, and are not a replacement for therapy or treatment. If you are struggling to cope with normal everyday life at the moment it may be more appropriate to find help from a therapist or your doctor before seeking services with Helen. in general, anyone who is able to function from day to day will be able to cope with training or coaching, and many clients do successfully have training while receiving treatment for physical or mental health issues.

If you are under the care of a doctor or therapist, and your condition is stable, you may apply for training or coaching. Training is safe and pain free. The evaluation research for 2024 has shown that research participants with a diagnosis of PTSD have been able to complete training without difficulties and gain benefit from Emotional Health Training.

Substance abuse

If you use alcohol or self-medicated drugs as a means to cope with your emotions, especially if you drink heavily and regularly, you may be unable to undertake training effectively. It is hard to learn to work with your nervous system if you can’t feel where it is. Please do not book training unless you are prepared to abstain from drink or non-prescribed medications for at least 12 hours before a training session. Training and coaching will be more helpful for you if you can dry out properly before you book sessions.

Training or coaching?

Training

If you want to learn a set of skills for everyday life, then EHT or TPT are the fastest, and most cost-efficient way of doing so. There is also a slower, more intensive pathway for training called The Engine House. Engine House sessions are in depth and include a range of advanced skills for those who want to develop their skills and achieve emotional self-mastery. These are all content led courses, and do not require the sharing of confidences or personal information.

Learning together
Learning together is a great way to find understanding!

Most training is one to one, but you can request tandem training of you have a friend, colleague, or partner you wish to learn with. Both participants will have to book and pay for their places in person. You cannot be enrolled for training by someone else.

If you are a third party paying for training, please make arrangements with the office for payments. Please be aware that all sessions are paid for at the time of booking.

Coaching

Coaching is about you, and your life. You can share your experiences and thoughts freely, and anything you say will be confidential. You will be taught those skills and insights that are suitable for your current situation. You can book sessions as and when you need them, and can continue your development in coaching format if you prefer it to a training format.

Coaching is usually one to one, but you can opt for Couples Coaching if you wish to develop your skills and knowledge in the context of a relationship. Couples Coaching usually focuses on a form of Emotional Health Training, but there is plenty of opportunity to discuss family matters. This is an excellent choice for parents dealing with challenging children, or for those who wish to take their own relationship to a new level.

Once enrolled, partners in Couples Coaching are welcome to book additional sessions. This can include individual sessions if wished, and the privacy of these extra sessions will be respected.
